Fieldings Company History

Fieldings have been involved in transport since the early sixties and was started by Ronnie Fielding. He purchased his first truck to haul timber throughout the British Isles for a large East London timber merchant.

During the late sixties and early seventies, Ronnie was driving to Europe in what were really the pioneering days of European Haulage. In the late seventies, a chance conversation with a local scenery builder saw Ronnie trucking his first roadshow - a tough back-to-back six week UK tour that went extremely well. Over the next few months, he was asked to tender for more conference and theatrical work and at this point, decided this was the area he was going to specialise in.

Things went from strength to strength and Ronnie decided to put his son Tony (who was at the time driving for him) in the office to manage the conference trucking division. The business continued to develop and Fieldings reputation grew as a reliable, punctual haulier, providing good equipment and more importantly friendly, helpful experienced drivers. In 1995, Ronnie decided to retire and the company was purchased by the RVL group. Tony Fielding was retained as Managing Director and the new company R.E.Fielding Trucking Ltd was relocated from their East London base to a much larger premises in Essex. The site is shared with another company in the RVL group, Sutch and Searle Shipping Ltd. In 1997 Fieldings, going back to their roots, purchased another Essex based general haulage company based in Harwich.

Fieldings now operate around 30 vehicles with a 50/50 split between general haulage and conference / show trucking and remain a preferred supplier to some of Europe's leading production companies and equipment suppliers.
